opposites
For our next painting assignment, we are asked to create a dialogue between two pieces of art that deals with a "particular event or subject". As I have been dealing with the idea of human interaction with spaces (public or private) I am going to continue on this subject matter - using the photos I have from Barcelona as voyeuristic documents of people in public space as inspiration. I am going to create two paintings, a diptych, in a relatively large scale. The opposition will become apparent though the way the people as subjects engage the architectural space, for instance, juxtaposing a public space that is being intensely used and densely occupied (and what kind of narrative and energy that produces) in opposed to a street that is empty, save one person. The intent is to imbue a kind of emotion and implied narrative into these streets that connect with the viewer.
